Anchorage Fracture & Orthopedic Clinic surgeon keeps US Ski Team safe
Dr. Gregory L. Schumacher attended team training in Italy
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (April 2014) – Dr. Gregory L. Schumacher, team physician for the US Ski Team, personal orthopedic surgeon to Kikkan Randall and orthopedic surgeon at Anchorage Fracture & Orthopedic Clinic, traveled to Italy with the US Ski Team in January for the team's pre-Olympic training.
“It is an honor to be involved with the team,” Dr. Schumacher says. “As part of the team’s medical staff, I was available to provide preventative treatment, treat injuries and care for ongoing conditions during training.”
It’s just one opportunity Dr. Schumacher has had to provide care to the country’s top Nordic skiers. He’s served as a volunteer doctor for the team for several years, beginning when Anchorage played host to the national championships in 2009. Since then, he’s attended training, races and events across the country and abroad.
